The Spyderco Manix Is a work knife all the way. Take a look at this knife and it becomes obvious that Spyderco spared the flash and trivial features in order to focus on making a folding knife with sheer strength, edge retention and comfortable ergonomics.
What I like about the knife:
1. At 3.75 inches, the drop point style blade is long enough to give you awesome cutting power but small enough to be legally carried almost anywhere.
2. Your fingers are protected from lock failure thanks to Spyderco's proven lock back system. The lock releases when you push down the button on the back of the handle and has no movement from side to side or up and down when in the locked position.
3. Spyderco uses the hottest steel in the knife market for the Manix blade; S30V. With this steel you get the toughness and edge retention of high carbon steel and the rust resistance of a stainless.
4. The Manix handle is well designed to fit comfortably in your hand. Additionally, the G-10 scales provide a non-slip grip that you will appreciate. Each Manix comes with an ambidextrous and reversible pocket clip to allow for left/right and tip up/tip down carry.
5. .With more and more knife companies outsourcing their production overseas, it's nice to see well made knives still being made in America. Spyderco still makes their Manix knives in Golden, Colorado.
What I didn't like:
I only wish that the Manix were available with clip or tanto style blades. Other than that I have no major complaints about the knife.
Overall:
With a suggested retail value of 9.95, the Spyderco Manix is not the cheapest knife on the market. If you're looking for a top-notch folding knife that will be your trusted companion for years to come, then check out the Spyderco Manix.
